Kent is an expert in his field and has deep knowledge in business search, acquisitions financing loans, business valuation and much more. Throughout Kent's career in the paint and coatings industry, he experienced success in developing a major U.S. based paint company by implementing a balanced plan of organic growth, geographic expansion and strategic acquisitions. In total, Kent led fourteen (14) acquisitions and three (3) divestments. He has held the following management positions: Vice President of Sales - Bennett Paint & Glass, a regional company based in SLC, UT; Region Manager - Devoe Paint, a national company based in Louisville, KY; President - Kwal Paint a regional company based in Denver, CO; CEO / President - ProPaint, Inc. a holding company of regional paint manufacturers.
While at Kwal, Kent implemented a direct sales strategy that increased revenues from $20MM to $50MM in five years. Confident that this strategy could be successfully implemented in other regional companies, he partnered with a private equity company, The Jordan Company, to form a new “holding” company, ProPaint, Inc. (PPI). Their first acquisition was the U.S. paint division of Williams PLC, which included four regional paint companies: three in the western U.S. and one in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. In seven years, revenues for ProPaint grew from $179MM to $550MM. ProPaint was sold in 2008. Kent continues to work as an “industry expert” with private equity firms and focuses on working with clients either divesting or acquiring.
